Hot Wings

As I mentioned on my Salsa! post, I would like to put a couple of my favorite recipes on my blog. I love to cook, and I really love spicy food. No wonder I love hot wings, right?!?

Hot Wings

Ingredients:
1 cup of Franks Red Hot Cayenne Pepper Sauce
2 tbsp. of Butter
2 packages of chicken drummetes
Salt
Pepper

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 500 degrees.

2. Put wings on a baking sheet. (Tip: Wrap the top of baking sheet with tin foil. This will stop the grease from the chicken from making a mess on the sheet.)Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper to taste. Put the wings in the oven when the oven is properly heated.

3. Cook wings for 30-45 minutes. Make sure that you insert a thermometer into the chicken to ensure the meat is cooked thoroughly.

4. About 5 minutes before the chicken comes out of the oven, microwave 2 tbsp. of butter until it is completely melted. (About 30-60 seconds)

5. Pour one cup of Franks into a large bowl. Pour in butter, and mix until the butter is well Incorporated into mixture.

6. Remove wings from oven when the meat is cooked through. Dunk the wings into the bowl of wing sauce and put onto a serving dish.

7. Enjoy!

I especially love eating these wings while watching a movie! If you or a family member is not crazy about spicy food (my sister!) then simply coat the wings with BBQ sauce, or any other sauce that they enjoy!
Serve with celery and/or ranch for all the wimps you know!

Hook, Line, and Sinker.

I was checking my email on yahoo.com and realized how often I fall for their little traps. For example, I was looking at the home page, and I find the following:
PS Click on the picture to see a larger image!

I saw the headline in the middle of the page: "Most album downloads ever". If you are like me, then you probably want to know. And what is funny is that every time that I get on yahoo.com to check my mail, I can't help but click on the headlines. Also, if you look closely, you see that they don't tell you what band has the most downloads in the little captions, so you HAVE to click it. Curiosity kills the cat!

The Big 50

It's official: Jordan's River is 50 posts old!

It has been a fun 50 posts, and I can't wait to see how much this blog will change over the years- Jordan's River will be one year old on September 19th!

But back to the big 50! To celebrate, I figured I'd throw a crazy video on this post!

I'm 50! 50 Years Old!

My HP Deskjet F4135 All-in-One

I love having a scanner.
It never occured to me that I could use the scanner for my blog until I checked out Gabe's Art blog. (A link to it on the right panel.)

Anywho... I decided that I should scan some of my artwork. I am not too good (at least compared to Gabe), but I enjoy drawing, and I thought that this piece in particular came out really nicely.

I call it: Seven Variously Colored Balloons!

Look forward to other posts with my artwork!

Check Out Some Awesome Blogs

You may notice that I have been renovating my blog. I try to keep it simple and easy to navigate, while at the same time keeping it cool-looking.

So, anyways, you might want to check out a few blogs that I like to visit every once in a while. On the right side of the blog, you will see a new feature: a little box called "My Blog List".

In it are a few blogs that I enjoy. I especially like my uncle's blog, The Carantit Chronicles. I believe I've referenced it a few times, but if not, here you go, Ty, free publicity!

To make your life particularly easy, here is a link to his blog: http://carantit.blogspot.com/

PS
Look forward to the Jordan River's 50th post. It will be fun!

Salsa!

I love Mexican food! It is spicy, tasty, and flavorful. About two nights a week, my mother and I make our homemade salsa. I thought I would share the recipe on the blog:

Salsa Recipe

Ingredients:
2 Jalapenos
1/2 cup of cilantro
2 cups of diced canned tomatoes
3 tablespoons of red wine vinegar
1/2 of a yellow sweet onion
2 tablespoons salt
2 tablespoons pepper
1/8 cup of Salsa Brava (optional)
2 cloves garlic
Any tortilla chips you like

1) Dice jalapenos, onion, and garlic. Chop cilantro. Put into a food processor and add salt and pepper. Pulse the food processor until the mixture looks fine.

2)Add tomato, vinegar, and Salsa Brava. Again, pulse the food processor until the mixture looks fine. (You can leave the salsa more chunky or fine based on your preferences.)

3) Put in serving bowl and enjoy with tortilla chips, or whatever dish you would like!

I hope that you like the recipe, and I think I will be putting so more of these on the blog! Please comment on how you liked it, or if you changed the recipe!

Hulu

Hey guys!

Check out www.hulu.com for free movies and TV episodes! It's good quality and easy to use. Plus, I can embed videos from that site! They have SNL, The Office, House, and much, much more!

Snake

My new blogging obsession is embedding. There is just so much to embed, and it is so easy. I love this game. My best score is a nine on special, but I can get like twenty on easy. Enjoy!

Saturday Night Live- Again?

I just learned how to do this nifty little thing called embedding. Wow! A big step in my journey as a blogger, huh? Anyway, although we didn't get more cowbell (hehe) we did get more laser cats when Christopher Walkens hosted SNL on April 5. I wish that I could have found a video of the Greased Lightning sketch that they did, but I couldn't... So I got the next best thing...Plus a few more videos that I think are hilarious:

House

Right now, House MD is my favorite show on TV. It is funny, it is fast paced, and I am really interested in medicine. I don't really care that the each episode follows the same story line:

1. A person gets really sick

2. House (the main character who is a doctor) makes fun of the patient and/or his co workers

3. The patient gets more sick in the hospital

4. House and his team finds a simple diagnosis for the patient

5. House treats the patient

6. The patient gets worse

7. House and his team act shocked

8. House makes fun of the patient and/or his co workers

9. House talks to Wilson (a fellow doctor) or makes fun of Cutey (his boss)

10. House pops ten Vicodin

11. We get a glimpse of House's sad personal life

12. Back to the patient already!!!!

13. House and his team come up with a diagnosis that couldn't be wrong

14. Guess what? the diagnosis was wrong

15. House has a breakthrough moment when he sees a giant metaphor of his patient, runs up to the hospital ward where his patient resides, does something most would find utterly insane, and the patient lives.

16. House makes fun of his patient and/or co workers.

I LOVE this show anyways. The humor and the medical content keeps me coming back every week. Plus, they have played a ton of reruns on Fox for the past couple of months (the writers strike prevented them from creating new shows), so I caught up on episodes that I missed. But, House returns with new episodes in April. Yeah!

Saturday Night is Live from New York

Thank goddness. As Stephen so kindly pointed out on Down with the Tubes, the writters strike is over. It costed Los Angeles hundreds of millions without any new television, but, the pain is over. The writers are done whining, and this Saturday, February 23rd is the first new SNL since the strike. Tina Fey is hosting with musical guest Carrie Underwood. (ugh) Make sure you all tune in so the ratings go up that much more! Yeah!!!!!

King of Pong

I love Ping Pong. I love slam shots, curve shots, and low serves. I love playing it with my family and friends and I like testing their abilities.

It was especially interesting when I went to Maine. Since Mainers (or Mainahs) are snowed in for the winter, they have to find things to do inside that are fun, entertaining, and get you moving. Seemingly every house I was at had a Ping Pong table. I had to learn fast. But eventually I could beat my dad (still not a huge accomplishment). So, my awesome uncle got onto http://craigslist.com and got me a ping pong table for forty bucks! I was going to build one since that is a fraction of the cost to buy a new one, but since my uncle would be thoroughly involved in that process, he wanted a few weeks to get one for me on craigslist.

Now, I am going to my basement to play a round against my mom, but I have to try easy.
Here are some links to some awesome Ping Pong videos. The pros are crazy good!

Super Bummer

Dang! My favorite team, the New England Patriots lost in a close game to the New York Giants on Sunday. I am kind of tied to the Patriots because my parents are from NE. I am sad, but the
Giants were the better team in the end. There's always next year...
Anyways, g2g, I need to do some homework...

Say Cheese!

In the words of Jordan G. "Why do we pay people money to inflict pain on us?"

No idea. We have this huge social pressure that if our teeth aren't white and straight, then we are unpopular, poor, and unattractive.

They hurt. You can't take them off. You can't eat your favorite foods. And the orthodontist I have cuts my gums on a regular basis.

Whine about them here!

Out Cold

It's the time of year to catch something nasty, go home, and seemingly die. I got my dose of a virus on Tuesday and have been out of school Wed. Thurs. and Fri. It sucked. Some people like missing school. Not me. i have a ton of makeup work, plus it's not like I had fun. I've been stuffed up, had a 101-102 fever and on top of it all, my braces were recently tightened, so it is hard to eat. FUN. Boat loads of it.

A MAD CAULDRON OF FUN

The best part of being published in MAD (aside from getting recognized by millions of readers in a both nationally and internationally published magazine) is the reward that comes with it. Recently, MAD decided "if you were lucky enough to get your letter published" that you get some sort of prize. (Usually they have something to do with what's hot- when the Simpson's Movie was released, that was the prize for that month). I was lucky enough to score Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix DVD, DVD interactive game, and Wii game. I also got a Harry Potter Day calander. I also got a book entitled The Demonata Blood Beast by Darren Shan. (wierd, probably not going to read it)
Anyways I got this bundle of free stuff in the mail yesterday addressed to Jordan Hull.

A Resolution

I checked my email this morning, and I opened one from a friend (who comments on this blog regularly) and she asked me what my new year's resolution was. I realized that I hadn't made one! I want to make mine here on the blog, and I want to be held to it by 2009. If you want to do the same, go ahead, and I will hold to yours in a year.
My resolution:To read 20 books outside of school, to get 6 POW's correct in geometry (Problem of the Week, and I am required to get 5 correct, something that I barely pulled off last semester), and to run a 5K in under 24 minutes.
